Specific Need

A significant part of the library materials and programs are paid for by the Friends of the LIbrary.  We wish to be able to continue this support to enable the library to continue to provide a needed and vital service to our community.

Mission

The mission of the Friends of the Library is to support and cooperate with the Library board and staff in developing, maintaining and enhancing the library facilities, resources and services to our community.

Profile

The Friends of the Frankfort City Library Fund was established in 2018 to support the Frankfort City Library. The Friends in cooperation with the library board and staff have been working to establish the library as a place that enhances the attractiveness of the Frankfort community as a place to live, work and visit.  Things to do are limited in a small town so the library tries to provide a welcoming place to go with fun and educational activites for all ages.  The library has an extensive materials collection available but it also provides a place for kids to gather after school and on vacation days.  Our youth programming includes movie days, crafts, video games, STEAM Club and special themed events.  The library also provides the adults in our community a place to put together a puzzle, read the newspaper, research local history or sit and enjoy a free cup of coffee.  The library hosts an adult reading group, guest author visits, and adult crafting nights.  In a recent month the library had 226 adults and 424 youth use the facilities.  75 people used the computers.  There were 198 patrons that attended special programming events and the free wi-fi was accessed 849 times.  Also, the library checks out an average of 400-500 materials per month.  The library has a large impact upon the citizens of Frankfort and needs these funds to continue to offer free programs to our youth and adult patrons.
